STEVENS (Galbiso) -- Josephine (Josefa "Fita") Elfides Armijo passed away peacefully May 24, 2010 into the arms of our loving LORD surrounded by family at Vista Care. Fita was born on March 19, 1926 in the farming village of Corrales and raised by her mother, Eutimia Armijo; and grandfather, Antonio Armijo of Cabezon, NM. She is survived by her children, Louella Galbiso, Josephine Galbiso Martinez (son-in-law, Arthur Martinez), David Galbiso, Mary Jane Galbiso (companion, Daryl Qualls), Sydney (Isabel) Galbiso Aschert (son-in-law, Frank Aschert), Danny Galbiso, and Elisa Diana Galbiso McDowell. Her family included 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. She leaves her brother, Manuel Gurule; sisters, Rosalia Baca (brother-in-law, Louie Baca) and Mary S. Gurule, all of Alameda. Fita was preceded in death by her first husband, Simplicio Galvizo of Ilocos Norte, Philippines; her second husband, Juan Stevens of Alameda, NM; grandson, David S. Galbiso; and infant son, Lawrence Galbiso. Fita delighted in her family, a special joy was every new grand- and great-grandchild. For many years she enjoyed traveling whether by plane, train, ship, or car with Mary Jane throughout the United States, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, Panama, Jamaica, Costa Rica; however, her favorite road trips were always here in New Mexico. An engaging storyteller; she regaled all with her adventures. TV shows, Price is Right & Wheel of Fortune, together with Casino Wednesday were her passions. After her traveling days ended, Fita was a lifelong voracious reader and the daily newspaper and crossword puzzle became daily routine. We, Fita's family, express our gratitude to the 7th floor staff at Presbyterian Medical Center for the patient loving care provided during her weeklong stay.
